Become a REALTOR®

Considering a Career in Real Estate?

Registering as a Salesperson in Ontario

All Ontario REALTORS® must be registered as salespersons with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO).  To do so, you must first complete registration education courses administered on behalf of RECO  by the Ontario Real Estate Association Real Estate College.

*Note: The OREA Real Estate College will cease to operate on December 31, 2020.  Starting January 1, 2021, Humber College will be administering the education program for new registrants.  Click here to find out how the closing will affect admissions and the deadline to complete OREA’s College programs.

Becoming a REALTOR®

A real estate salesperson only becomes a REALTOR® when he or she joins as a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).  The term REALTOR® is a registered trademark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of CREA and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.

When you join a local REALTOR® association, like the Guelph & District Association of REALTORS®, you automatically become a member of that association’s Provincial or Territorial association and the Canadian Real Estate Association.
